August Away

Unfortunately one of the best times for picking coincides with holiday season. I have been juggling picking, weeding and planning with trips to the coast. Planning has been a little overshadowed by action. The main job is the endless deadheading of flowers - particularly sweet peas and dahlias, but I have potted on some biennials - Honesty and wallflowers. I sowed some biennials direct and they have taken - I just hope that the rabbits don't find them. We have had a lot of rain, so the weeds are rampant. I am going to cover one bed with cardboard and compost to save hand weeding.
